Local NI granny secures big Tesco contract to supply children's meals

  • Tyrone granny and Cloughbane Farm Managing Director Lorna Robinson has secured a major contract to supply Tesco in Northern Ireland with children's meals and vegetarian options.

Cloughbane Farm's Lorna Robinson is equal parts grandmother and entrepreneur, turning her passion for her grandchildren into a rapidly growing meal supply business. Lorna is Managing Director of the Tyrone-based Cloughbane Farm, a family farm that produces its own ranges of finished food products for retail and is now producing a range of children's foods and vegetarian options.

The farm has just announced that it's secured a major deal with Tesco to supply its new Cloughbane ‘Little Farm’ children's meal range and its new Cloughbane Veggi range of vegetarian and vegan foods to stores all across Northern Ireland. The farm has worked with Tesco since 2012 and supplies a range of chilled pre-prepared meals, and this new contract will be a huge step up for the company.

The Cloughbane Veggi range comes as the result of a £200,000 investment by the farm in product development, an investment that is now paying off as Tesco will now be carrying the new range across its stores. It includes a Three Bean Casserole, Vegetable Lasagne, Vegetable Pasta Bake, and a new Spicy Lentil & Root Vegetable Casserole that recently won an award from the Northern Ireland Food & Drink Association. Both the Veggi and Little Farm ranges are available in Tesco now.

“Cloughbane Farm is delighted to extend our range of products available in Tesco stores,” commented Lorna Robinson, Managing Director of Cloughbane Farm. “We live and run the business from our farm - with our ethos focused on home cooking and rooted in family values. We pride ourselves on bringing our passion for good food made with fresh, quality ingredients to the creation of every Cloughbane Farm product."

"In my other guise as ‘Granny Lorna’ it was so important for me to provide my grandchildren with wholesome nutritious meals – and this is how the idea for the Little Farm products evolved. Consumer habits continue to change, and particularly demand for plant-based meal solutions. Innovation is paramount at Cloughbane Farm, which is why we developed the Veggi range. We are very proud of our new product ranges and we’re confident Tesco customers will love them as much as we do!”
