Social media giant LinkedIn has revealed plans to create up to 800 new jobs in its Dublin office as part of an ongoing investment in Ireland.Practically everyone in the tech industry uses LinkedIn, with over 630 million users worldwide and over 2 million in Ireland. The company currently has around 1,200 staff at its Wilton Place office in Dublin, which acts as the company's international headquarters and services the greater EMEA region.
LinkedIn has now announced plans to increase the number of staff in that office to 2,000 with the creation of 800 new jobs, one of the largest single job creation pushes of recent years. The new roles will include many sales and customer service jobs but also more technical roles in finance and analytics, and some marketing positions.
The company recently signed a lease for a new 150,000 sq ft office at One Wilton Park to accomodate the expansion, and expects to full all 800 of these new jobs by mid-2020.
The head of LinkedIn Ireland,
Sharon McCooey, commented on the move, saying: "Our growth in Ireland continues at a phenomenal pace, both as an employer but also as a platform. Our Irish office has become our second largest office in the world, after our global HQ, and our Irish members are some of the most active and engaged."
