Applications are now open for the upcoming Tech Nation 'Applied AI 1.0' sector growth programme, with an application deadline of July 8th 2019.Over the past several years, artificial intelligence and machine learning technology have progressed from experimental and emerging tech to fully realised technologies with practical applications. The number of people now working in applied AI is rising, and machine learning is now being incorporated into the next generation of tools and software for a wide range of industries, but accessing that talent is still a problem for many companies.
This is a problem that Tech Nation aims to solve with its first ever Applied AI programme. The six-month programme will run in partnership with the UK Government’s Office for Artificial Intelligence to equip successful applicants with the the practical help they'll need to develop AI-based products and services.
Applications will be judged by a panel of experts from the AI industry, and successful applicants will be company founders with clear visions for how their products and services will solve problems and make real-world impacts in practical ways.
The deadline for applications in July 8th, and the scheme begins in September with support from leading UK AI firm Faculty. To apply, head over to

The scheme is free to those applying and will help company CEOs and CTO to build an AI support network, partner with established applied AI companies, face key scaling challenges with AIs, learn how to develop an AI-based idea into a finished product. The programme will also include a series of networking events with industry experts, journalists, government and investors, and there may be an opportunity to join an international delegation.
Minister for Digital and Creative Industries, Margot James MP, commented: “Britain has a long history as a global leader in computing technologies which led to the birth of artificial intelligence. Through our modern Industrial Strategy we are delivering a Britain that works for everyone and one that is a world leader in data-driven technologies. Tech Nation’s new Applied AI programme will help nurture some of our most talented entrepreneurs who use AI to improve people’s lives. I encourage anyone with the talent, ideas and aptitude to apply.”
