Belfast tech firm Sensata sponsors diversity event

  • Belfast-based sensor technology company Sensata has become the main sponsor of this year's Belfast Mela event.

Held every August, Belfast Mela is Northern Ireland's largest celebration of cultural diversity and is visited by over 25,000 people. The event features a huge variety of family friendly activities and has been getting bigger each year. Belfast Mela 2019 will take place on Sunday 25th August 2019 in Belfast's picturesque Botanic Gardens area, and local tech firm Sensata has just been announced as this year's primary sponsor.

You may remember Sensata as the firm that picked up three separate awards last month at the NI Northern Ireland Equality and Diversity Awards. The company has a strong commitment to diversity and has big plans for this year's Belfast Mela event. Though the event typically focuses on diversity through things such as music, food and dance, Sensata will be running a special STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) zone tying into some of the work the company is involved in.

Adriana Morvaiova, Team Development Coordinator and Chair of ACE Network, Sensata Technologies said “We are delighted to become a principal sponsor of the Belfast Mela this year, as diversity in our workplace is very important to Sensata. This is a perfect partnership as both brands are committed to celebrating the best of our communities in Northern Ireland. We look forward to developing opportunities for our employees to connect with each other to encourage and support a culture of inclusion."

Head over to www.belfastmela.org.uk for more information on the event, and be sure to mark off the hours from 12 noon until 6pm on Sunday 25th August in your calendar.
