Students secure £15,000 at the QUB Dragons' Den

  • Students at Queen's University Belfast have taken home £15,000 following a successful Dragons' Den pitching event organised by Enterprise SU.

    Queen's University ran its infamous Dragons' Den business event for students recently, with over 120 students applying to pitch their innovative product or service to a panel of investors and business leaders. The competition was fierce, and in the end 13 finalists were selected to present their ideas to the panel.

    The event was organised by Enterprise SU and sponsored by the MCS Group, Tughans Solicitors, Cavanagh Kelly, and the Engineers in Business Fund, with £15,000 in prize money split between the four top ranked teams from the finalists. The winning teams that split the prize money were Agile Roto, WriteEasy, Stand, and top-place winner Amp Signal Optimiser.

    Amp Signal Optimiser creator and first-place winner Lewis Loane said "The Dragons’ Den experience is an excellent opportunity for any student entrepreneur. Meeting other students with great business ideas and enthusiasm was a key highlight of the experience. The support given by Enterprise SU was exemplarily, their knowledge and guidance transformed my approach to business. The expert Dragons were encouraging and engaging and have already opened doors to new business opportunities for my Signal Optimiser."
