Nominations have now opened for the 2019 Women of the Year Awards, which take place later this year. The annual Women of the Year Luncheon & Awards aims to shine a spotlight on positive female role models throughout all areas of society across the UK. It particularly recognises women in the wider business community and encourages women to showcase their talents and celebrate their achievements.
The lack of female role models in leadership positions in the tech industry poses a real problem, making it more difficult to inspire young women in education to pursue a career in tech or business. That's one problem that awards such as this can really help with, by seeking out those role models from within industry and promoting them to a nationwide audience.
The nominations are now open for "Business Woman of the Year," so and any female entrepreneur or member of a company's management team qualifies for nomination. Head over to the Women of the Year website at
http://www.womenoftheyear.org.uk to suggest any particularly inspiring female role models in your organisation's management team. You can also nominate yourself if no-one else is doing it.
Women of the Year chair Zalena Vandrewala said: "The Women of the Year launch event was a tremendous success and it was great to receive so much support from our sponsors and the wider business community. The Women of the Year awards works to recognise the achievements of female trailblazers from across the UK. I would encourage everyone to look around them and nominate a woman who you think is making strides in her career today."
