Catalyst to run workshop on accessing Innovate UK funding

  • Catalyst is running a workshop next month to show start-ups how they can access Innovate UK's pool of funding for innovation.

Tech start-ups in Northern Ireland can have difficulty raising funding while in the research and development phase of a new project, often armed with just an idea and a pitch to secure the finances and contacts needed to make an innovative solution come to life. There are various funding streams available for R&D, but each comes with its own lengthy application process and learning curve attached.

That early stage should be when organisations such as Innovate UK come in to provide support. Innovate UK has supported over 8,000 organisations across the UK with a total of over £2.2bn in support since 2007 and has been a key driver of the UK's tech industries through investment in science and technology innovations, but how can you access its pool of funding?

Catalyst will be teaming up with Innovate UK next month to run a Frameworks Workshop tackling exactly that question. The short workshop will run from 12 noon to 2 PM on Tuesday the 14th of May, and will take place in Catalyst's venue in Derry. It will be led by Innovate UK's Northern Ireland Manager Lorraine Acheson, and will include a panel discussion and Q&A with representatives from start-ups who have been through the process and received Innovate UK funding.
