Seedcorn start-up competition offers €280k in prizes

  • InterTradeIreland's 2019 All-Island Seedcorn Investor Readiness competition is now open for applications, with €280,000 in prizes up for grabs.

The Seedcorn Investor Readiness competition runs each year for new and early stage companies based in Ireland and Northern Ireland who want to demonstrate that their company is ready for major investment. This year's competition has just opened for applications, and has €280,000 (around £241,000) in prizes available in a number of catgories.

The overall winner will walk away with €100,000 delivered in installments as the company hits certain key performance metrics. There's also a €50,000 prize for the Best New Start or Early Stage Company selected by InterTradeIreland, and a special prize of €10,000 for the best company spun out from a university. One company from Northern Ireland is also guaranteed to win one of the €20,000 regional awards.

The competition is open to any company that will be less than five years old on 31 May 2019 and is actively seeking investment. Companies must identify as either a "New Start Company" that is seeking to raise between €50,000 and €299,999 or an Early Stage Company that is seeking to raise €300,000 or more.
