Global cyber-security firm Cynash expands into Northern Ireland

  • Global infrastructure cyber-security company Cynash has announced that it has expanded into Northern Ireland with a new office in Belfast.

In addition to setting up a new office in Belfast this month, global cyber-security company Cynash has announced that it has set up a new international subsidiary Cynash International Ltd for its operations here and globally. The company set up a new office on March 14th with financial assistance from Invest Northern Ireland.

Cynash focuses on securing industrial infrastructure such as the energy grid and water supply control systems against cyber-attacks. It brings its patented SerialTap technology developed by the US Department of Energy that can passively intercept serial communications on old industrial control networks and feed that data into modern monitoring software. This allows it to perform detailed security analysis on older systems that weren't designed with modern threats in mind.

"We were attracted to Belfast because of the strong, diverse talent pool—owing in part to the close proximity to Queens University of Belfast’s Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT)," explained Cynash CEO Richard Robinson. The company joins several major cyber-security companies that have set up offices in Belfast in recent years to take advantage of Northern Ireland's high standard of IT and software development expertise, including US firm Imperva and locally grown cyber-security experts Uleska.
