NI companies win big in Deloitte's Best Managed Companies awards

  • Three companies in Northern Ireland have become first-time recipients of Deloitte's Best Managed Companies designation at an event in Dublin.

Deloitte's Best Managed Companies event in association with Bank of Ireland took place in Dublin this weekend, offering industry recognition to businesses operating across the island of Ireland. The awards are given to companies after detailed investigation of their entire management team and business strategy and judging by a panel.

Among this year's 12 first-time recipients were three companies based in Northern Ireland: Hospitality group Beannchor Group from Antrim, construction products manufacturer FP McCann from Derry, and precision hydraulic cylinder manufacturer Northern Hydraulics from Tyrone. The designation has been given to 136 companies this year including 27 from Northern Ireland.

Northern Irish companies Denroy Plastics, Learning Pool, Combined Facilities Management, and local tech firm Novosco were also awarded the "Gold Standard" award for obtaining Best Managed Companies status for four years running, and Kestrel Foods and McCue Fit-Out won the "Platinum Standard" recognition for seven years of Best Managed Companies status.

Glenn Roberts, Partner at Deloitte said: "The spread of companies across a number of industries underlines the importance of Irish and Northern Irish companies to the economy. At a time of economic and political uncertainty, technology disruption, an open competitive market and near full employment, the continued strong performance of these businesses is admirable."
