Amiga Ireland event kicks off on Jan 18th in Athlone

  • The annual Amiga Ireland event will be taking place in the Prince of Wales Hotel in Athlone on January 18th and 19th, with special guests including Amiga creator RJ Mical and more.

If you were a fan of the Commodore Amiga back in the 80's or 90's, you might be interested to know that there's an annual amiga meetup every year right here in Ireland. Amiga Ireland takes place in Athlone each year, giving fans of the retro computer opportunity to meet other fans, socialise, play retro games, and more.

This year's event will include game tournaments, spot prizes throughout the event, and workshops on how to install wifi on the Commodore 64 and dropbox on the Amiga. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet legends such as RJ Mical, one of the original inventors of the Amiga, and Trevor Dickenson will show off the new AmigaOne computer due to be released this year.

David Pleasance will be signing copies of his new book "Commodore: The Inside Story" at the event, and an online interview will take place with Volker Wertich, the creator of the game The Settlers. The event will take place in the Prince of Wales Hotel in Athlone on the 18th and 19th of January, and there is still time to buy tickets for the event now at www.amigausers.ie (prices are €25 EUR for Saturday only or €40 EUR for both Friday and Saturday).
