  • Startium, a Belfast-based technology company, has supported more than 1,000 university entrepreneurs across Belgium in the past 12 months. Through its partnership with Gentrepreneur, a multi-university initiative bringing together six higher education institutions to deliver entrepreneurship support at scale.

The collaboration enables universities to move beyond fragmented support systems and instead operate through a shared digital platform that connects students and researchers to opportunities, resources, and expert support based on their individual needs.

Gentrepreneur was established to unify entrepreneurship support across participating institutions, creating a more accessible and coordinated ecosystem for students, researchers, and early-stage founders.

Through the Startium platform, entrepreneurs have been connected to funding opportunities, events, competitions, and tailored guidance, while university teams have been able to better coordinate delivery and measure impact across institutions.

Startium’s technology enables enterprise and innovation teams to provide personalised support at scale, helping ensure that entrepreneurs are connected to the right support at the right time.

This partnership represents a growing shift in how entrepreneurship support is delivered, moving from isolated programmes within individual institutions to collaborative, ecosystem-wide approaches that improve access and outcomes for founders.

By adopting a shared platform, Gentrepreneur and its partner universities have been able to:

    · Coordinate support services across multiple institutions

    · Improve visibility of opportunities for student founders

    · Strengthen connections between entrepreneurs and advisors

    · Capture data to better understand impact and outcomes

The initiative has also been supported by regional partners including VLAIO and Invest Northern Ireland, helping to facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange across borders.

As demand for entrepreneurship support continues to grow across universities, models like Gentrepreneur demonstrate how collaboration, supported by the correct digital infrastructure, can significantly expand reach and deliver economic impact.
