US managed service provider establishes Belfast as a cornerstone of its international delivery network, with plans to grow its local team and target UK customers

Netrio, a full-service AI-powered Managed Service Provider (MSP) serving mid-market enterprises, today officially opened its expanded Belfast office in The Kelvin. The new facility more than triples the footprint of its previous premises in the city. The opening ceremony was attended by local business VIP’s and officiated by James Applegate, Consul General at the US Consulate.

Speaking at the ceremony Consul General Applegate reflected how Belfast was the second oldest US consulate anywhere in the world, underpinning its relationship and historical ties with the US economy dating back to 1796 and subsequent significant US Investments in Belfast ship building, including The Titanic.

Consul General Applegate commented "This is the most recent chapter in the long story of US investment in Northern Ireland. Foreign Direct Investment has played a major role in the growth of the Northern Irish economy as a part of the peace process and we are really happy to be able to play a part of it today. Netrio’s expansion and growth of its Northern Ireland office is a testimony to the quality of the people here, and to the work culture that continues to drive the dynamic and innovative tech space in Northern Ireland."

The opening marks a defining moment in Netrio's international growth story. Belfast is now home to 40 of the company's global workforce of 500 and plays a central role in Netrio's delivery model, not simply as a satellite support resource, but as a full-spectrum operation spanning technical engineering, security, revenue enablement, and customer success at every level of the organisation.

"It's not just Level 1 Help Desk people here," said Gina Murphy, President and Chief Transformation Officer. "It's Level 1, Level 2, Level 3. Some of our top engineers are in this building. Every single facet of our company has a role here and we're all connected globally."

The move to a larger premises signals the company's intention to grow its Belfast headcount significantly, and in a new direction. Having focused exclusively on supporting its US customer base from Belfast, Netrio is now actively preparing to hire salespeople and account managers to target businesses in Northern Ireland and across the wider UK market.

"We have our own place now, we have the breadth of skill set and people, and it is time to start to target this area and the broader UK for customers," said Mark Clayman, CEO of Netrio. "The talent and resources that are in this market are phenomenal."

Netrio's Belfast presence has its roots in the company's acquisition of Agio, a New York City-based MSP specialising in financial services, in May 2025. The acquisition brought together Agio's AI-powered service delivery platform, NetrioNow, with Netrio's managed infrastructure, security, connectivity, and cloud portfolio. The result, in Clayman's words, is a "one plus one equals three" outcome: a broader service capability, a more diverse customer base, and a global team with the depth to deliver at scale.

The company has joined both the Belfast Chamber of Commerce and the Derry Chamber of Commerce, reinforcing a genuine commitment to the local business community that extends well beyond the establishment of office space and reflects a long‑term investment in regional partnership and growth.

"We want to grow here — not just from a people perspective of servicing our customers in the US," said Murphy. "We want to get companies here to use our services. It would be great for the economic area, and great for us."
