Empower Girls returns to the iconic ICC Belfast for its 3rd and most powerful year yet!

  • CyberFirst is set to host over 800 Year Eight (aged 11-12) girls from schools at Northern Ireland’s annual EmPower Girls event on Thursday, 19 March 2026.

The event, sponsored by Aflac Northern Ireland, is aimed at encouraging young girls to consider a career in technology and cyber security. Delivered by CyberFirst in partnership with Aflac Northern Ireland, this high-energy, community-driven event brings together industry, academia, and government to build a stronger, more diverse tech future.

With sobering statistics revealing women represent just 23 per cent of the tech industry in Northern Ireland, EmPower Girls aims to address this imbalance by raising awareness of the variety of roles on offer in tech and cyber security as part of a high energy, immersive experience.

Companies in Northern Ireland are invited to take part in helping to inspire the next generation of women working in tech and equip them with the skills necessary to be at the forefront of cyber security.

In addition to inspirational talks from industry experts and those working within the Cyber Security sector local companies will also have the opportunity to participate in two breakout zones.

The Interactive Zone is designed to bring the fun to the exhibition with interactive experiences. Last year students were provided access to gaming consoles, VR headsets, and Oculus.

The Demo Zone is activity based and companies are encouraged to spark excitement in students with their tech and cybersecurity expertise hosting hands on interactive workshops, demos, and activities for groups of 10-15 students at a time in fun 20-minute sessions.

Participating companies will be able to have pop-up stands displaying marketing materials and merchandise along with the opportunity to showcase all the exciting career opportunities available within the Cyber sector in Northern Ireland.

There’s no sponsorship required - just each team’s energy, creativity, and commitment to inspiring the next generation and spark their passion and help boost future female representation in tech.
