  • A Belfast-based haulage expert has created new software that will end time-wasting paperwork and improve safety and efficiency for the industry.

Adam Monaghan from Fleet Fixation, located at Innovation Factory in Belfast, works as a consultant to hauliers and was keen to find a way to solve one of the major issues facing managers - the sheer weight of administration ensuring vehicles are safe and roadworthy.

His new fleet maintenance management software aims to cut down time managing record-keeping by 50%, reduce vehicle downtime and improve reliability.

“The industry is safety focused and compliance with regulations and safety standards is vital. If not recorded properly, an operator could lose their licence. But it’s a major cost in terms of time and efficiency. I wanted to streamline the process so that there was a full digital audit trail that would do away with the paper hard copies that need to be checked, verified and filed daily,” he said.

Aimed at companies with Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV), Passenger Service Vehicle (PSV) and van operators, Fleet Fixation launched its maintenance app after testing it extensively within the industry in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain.

“Our clients have found it hugely beneficial. The app is versatile, so it can be adjusted to regulations in any region and to businesses of any size. Managers said that being able to instantly see that all vehicle checks had been done correctly every day by every driver made a massive difference to them,” he said.

The app offers a comprehensive solution tailored to fleet and transport managers who access the app through an easy-to-use management dashboard. Key features include driver management, digital daily checks, digital maintenance forms, vehicle/asset and management, costings overview, accident reporting and document retention.

Gareth Townsley, Kerbside Manager at Bryson Recycling said: “Installing Fleet Fixation’s software has transformed how we manage our vehicle maintenance. Being able to track and record maintenance online has given us far better oversight, improved traceability and helped us streamline our entire fleet management operation. We’re already seeing reductions in both time and costs, and the system has made day-to-day management considerably easier for our team.”

Adam, who is originally from Fermanagh, started his business in 2022 working as a consultant to transport managers. He moved the business into Innovation Factory in Belfast 18 months ago.

He is now rolling out the Fleet Fixation app across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain with the potential to expand into other territories.

“Operating from Innovation Factory has benefited the business massively. As a team we are more productive in an office setting and the location and free parking can’t be beaten. This isn’t just having an office in a building though. The help I’ve had from the staff and the networking among other businesses here give a real sense of community,” he said.
