Logicalis, a global technology service provider, today reveals new findings from its 2025 Global CIO Report. The research found that over half (51%) of CIOs think they still lack access to cybersecurity solutions that fully fit their business needs.
The report – entitled ‘Return on Innovation’ and based on a survey of 1,000 CIOs across the globe, including Ireland – found that only 58% are fully confident in their ability to identify potential security gaps. A similar proportion (56%) say their security patch system is too complex to manage.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the overwhelming majority of organisations (96%) acknowledge the need for improvements in their security coverage, with 45% requiring significant upgrades.

Whilst further improvements and investments are needed, half of respondents admitted that their company has over-invested in security solutions they do not need. Furthermore, 58% of CIOs believe their current security investments fully meet their organisation’s needs.
Worryingly, the research found that the frequency of cybersecurity attacks is on the rise as more than three quarters (78%) of organisations reported that the volume of cybersecurity breaches has either remained consistent or increased.
Some 88% revealed that they had endured a cybersecurity incident in the last 12 months, with malware and ransomware attacks accounting for 42% of these breaches. Meanwhile, 43% of organisations have endured multiple breaches over the past year.
Mairead Malone, Country Leader for Ireland, Logicalis UK&I, said: “Organisations face a concerning paradox in cybersecurity investment – they clearly need to invest but, more importantly, they need to identify solutions that adequately meet their needs and effectively protect their operations.
“While it’s clear that threats are mounting, questions are being raised about the effectiveness of security spending and implementation. The fact that the majority of organisations have recently experienced a cybersecurity incident, with some enduring multiple breaches, is alarming. The businesses which fail to address these issues will only leave themselves – and potentially their customers – vulnerable.”
To help customers in Ireland address such issues, Logicalis will be hosting a roundtable event at The Shelbourne in Dublin on 29th May 2025 to delve into the trends highlighted in the 2025 Global CIO Report.
