Software NI welcomed members, officials and The Office of the First and Deputy First Minister to it's second Annual General Meeting receently in AllState’s Belfast office.
As Software NI works to accelerate the bustling NI software industry, guests were shown the organisation's approach to understanding and tackling key areas such as education, skills and sales - as well as the very future of the software sector itself.
In addition to endorsement of the Software NI 2035 vision to double the size of our industry here, Ministers spoke of the success of the sector, the opportunities for further growth and support for Software NI recommendations in the NI Executive's now-finalised Programme for Government.

Speaking at the event, deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly said: “The software industry plays a significant role in shaping our economy and future and we are committed to doing everything we can to support its continued growth.
“We also recognise the benefits of using technology when it comes to transforming how the public sector operates which is why we have included a commitment in our Programme for Government to launch an AI Unit within the Executive Office.
“By working together, we can fully embrace the range of opportunities this sector offers.”
Junior Minister Aisling Reilly said: “We are at the forefront of digital transformation, with our software industry playing a crucial role in driving innovation, economic growth, job creation, and reducing carbon emissions.
“The areas in which this sector excels are very much aligned with the Executive’s economic priorities and our vision for a globally competitive and sustainable economy. We recognise the importance of this industry, and we are absolutely committed to supporting its development and maximising the huge potential that exists in this area in the years ahead.”
Software NI CEO Neil Hutcheson said: “Bringing together members, officials and our leaders in Government was about reiterating the Software opportunity and outlining how we as industry have been playing our part to help realise what is a shared ambition. As an industry we already embody and help to enable our Government’s four key economic priorities of increasing good jobs, productivity, regional balance and reducing carbon emissions.
“Software impacts all of our lives and is a golden thread running through all of our key growth sectors. There is a place for many more people to be employed across the industry, including women and those who have been disadvantaged from entering the workforce. We are hugely encouraged by the support shown from the Office of the First and Deputy First Minister, and will keep moving forward at pace and in partnership with Government.”
