Big Data Belfast 2024: Expert Panels to Explore Innovations in AI and Data Across Key Sectors

  • The UK International Investment Summit this week unveiled plans for nearly 38,000 jobs are set to be created across the UK following a total investment of £63 billion – with both the First Minister Michelle O’Neill and Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly in situ emphasising that Northern Ireland is open for business and ready to attract new investments. 

    Within this context of fresh investment and underscoring the FM and DfMs message, Big Data Belfast 2024 returns bringing the tech and business community in Northern Ireland together to share ideas and opportunities around emerging AI technology.  

    The conference – which released its agenda on Monday - will feature world-class experts discussing the latest innovations and opportunities shaping the region’s economic prosperity over the next decade.

    The conference, curated and presented by Analytics Engines, will feature panel sessions featuring scores of domain experts discussing how data and artificial intelligence can address pressing societal challenges and contribute to a sustainable, competitive economy.  

    Among panel session topics will be: 

    • Advanced Manufacturing: Featuring industry experts such as Martin Murtagh (Wrightbus), Andreas Galatoulas (AECOM), Cormac McAteer (Seagate Technologies) and a representative from the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre, this panel will explore how to leverage AI and digital twins for efficiency and innovation in manufacturing. 
    • AI in Healthcare: Hosted by Alastair Allen (EY), and featuring Dan West (Department of Health), Lisa Whyte (Digital Health and Care NI), Frances Burns (NI Trusted Research Environment) and Paul Barbour (Public Health Authority), the session will delve into AL, data and the future of healthcare.  
    • AI and AgriTech: Led by Dr Michaela Fox (Momentum One Zero), with contributions from Stephanie Brooks (Foods Connected), Adam Askew (CattleEye), and Prof Naimh O'Connell (QUB), the panel will consider how AI is cultivating innovation and securing supply chains for the industry of the future. 
    • AI and Public Policy: Hosted by Roisin Finnegan (business consultant), Paul Murnaghan (BT), Prof Chris Johnson (DSIT), Laura Ellis (Rapid 7), Mark McCormick (Software NI) and Gareth Kelly (EY), the panel will explore how advanced AI technologies are shaping government policy.
