Global IT and cybersecurity company Agio is expanding, with 60 roles in total to be based in Northern Ireland by the end of 2025.
The New York company, which was formed in 2010 by Bart McDonough, announced in 2021 that it was set to create new jobs in Belfast following a £650k grant to support the roles from Invest NI.
The global hybrid managed IT and cybersecurity services provider specializes in the financial services, health care and payments industries.
In order to meet the growing demand, the company has moved into Glandore’s newly developed high spec offices in the city centre’s bustling Arthur Place.
Situated on the fourth floor, the new office space is an ideal fit for the hybrid-working company, whose inclusive ethos is reflected in the importance of flexibility and diverse workplace culture, with no set corporate policy currently on the number of mandatory office days per week.
This flexibility allows the team to look further afield when recruiting for new talent, with staff currently located as far afield as places such as Derry, Newry and more.
There are currently 40 people working for Agio in Northern Ireland, with the aim to have 45 members altogether by the end of October and 65 in total by the end of 2025.
The office space offers over 30 desks for hot-desking, which is ideal for collaboration, as it results in members from different teams and levels of seniority sitting alongside one another, all able to share ideas and ask questions.

In a further bid to optimize collaboration, staff are encouraged to work in the main office space together, with the option to use one of five purposeful break-out rooms available when needed for team meetings.
This communal ethos also allows for new recruits at a more junior level to ask questions and speak openly with more experienced senior team members.
Stephen Corrigan, Director of Client Architecture at Agio, comments: “In our shared office space we have different teams from cyber to IT, to administration. It is really refreshing to have everyone sitting together in one place and has been one of the things we have enjoyed most about the new office space because it has brought everyone together. At times, it can be difficult to pick up the phone or ask someone a question on Teams, whereas when talked through face-to-face, questions can be resolved so quickly and easily.
“When you have experienced senior technical team members and junior technical people working in the same space it allows for those questions to be asked and for learning to take place. A lot of those starting out in their career can miss out on learning opportunities when working fully remotely, which is why I think the hybrid working model at Agio is ideal.”

Richie Allen, Senior HR Business Partner, agrees, commenting: “A key element of Agio’s success in Belfast has been how flat as an organisation we are, everyone is approachable – all the way up to our senior management team members and CEO Bart McDonough.
“A lot of our current recruitment is focused towards the junior level so having a collaborative office-space creates an ideal opportunity for learning and asking questions face-to-face.”
Gillian Adams, Director of Service Management at Agio, agrees the office space has added to Agio’s feeling of collaboration and learning opportunities. Gillian comments:
“You feel more comfortable talking to someone and asking for advice after you have had the opportunity to get to know them in-person. It feels a lot less daunting, and that is something we definitely want to encourage, especially with having so many new members of the team coming on board.”
