Looking ahead to the latest Future of Marketing event

  • Latest keynote marketing event takes place in November and will focus on storytelling.

As marketers face new challenges on an almost daily basis a forthcoming event in Belfast is set to take professionals on a journey to a strategic outlook instead of the tactical day-to-day frustrations.

After its inaugural event took place in May, the Future of Marketing event series returns for its third instalment on November 22 in Lombard House – home of the Ulster Bank Entrepreneur Accelerator - focussing on storytelling in a fast-moving technological landscape.

Designed by marketing professionals for marketing professionals the peer-to-peer learning platform has already six speakers confirmed and more to be announced in coming weeks for an agenda that has keynote slots from some of the most talented names in the industry, interactive workshops and mutually supportive panel sessions.

Peter Craven of BlueSky Video Marketing has curated the event and believes that specialisms and skillsets are changing so quickly marketers need to be ready.

“The days of generalist marketers are numbered,” he explained. “We all need to look at what our key skills are and how can maximise the benefits for our clients and ourselves.

“Technological change in combination with an increasingly noisy world makes it extremely challenging for today’s marketers to reach and engage their audience – and that is why storytelling is so vital to help audiences relate to the message.

“Having worked in global marketing for 20 years I made the decision last year to specialise - and chose video as a result of the experience I’d gained using video already and the increasing use of video marketing in recent years.

“These events are founded on the belief that there is a need to choose your weapon in this increasingly complex environment. All of themes will help those who attend understand more about the opportunities in these areas and be in a position to decide how to future-proof your career in marketing.”

Speakers at the November event include Dave Linton of MADLUG, Tina Calder of Excalibur Press, Rick Monro of Puppet, Rachel Davis of Hurree, Paul Black of Alpha Office Furniture and Peter himself.

“Rather than focusing on day to day tactical stuff The Future of Marketing looks further ahead and aims to help people figure out how to structure their marketing teams within the organisations they inhabit as well as helping individuals how to figure out how to develop their own CV's to position themselves for a successful marketing career,” added Craven.

And beyond the November event, Peter and the team will be hosting part four of the series in Dublin in early 2019.

“We have some fantastic marketing talent here in Ireland and it’s great to be able to facilitate these events for our community which will not only enhance all of our individual performance but will showcase the power of great marketing to transform business performance and be the primary driver of business growth.”
