Version 1 is holding a Careers Open Night on Thursday 26 September, open to people of all levels of experience who have an interest in a career in technology.

Taking place at the Version 1 offices in Lanyon Plaza in Belfast city centre from 5.30pm until 9pm, the interactive evening will include talks and presentations from key members of the Version 1 team, including: Peter Ruck, Head of Talent Acquisition for Ireland Public Sector & Utilities, Mark McKeown, Head of Capital Markets, and Mark Reid, Portfolio Director for DAERA.

Attendees will be able to learn more about Version 1 as a company, its core inclusive company values, and work environment. In addition to finding out more about the open roles on offer, there will be a unique opportunity to speak face-to-face with team members on the night, including delivery managers, software developers, business analysts and more. Dozens of volunteers will be on hand to answer all questions and share their own personal experiences and opinions on what makes Version 1 such a great place to work.

Aidan Taggart, a Digital Skills Academy graduate, will also be in attendance to share his personal experience and insights from going through the Early Careers programme. "It will be incredibly valuable to hear from Aidan, who has walked in the same shoes as those attending. Aidan will share his genuine, firsthand experience as someone who has been through the programme and knows exactly what it’s like." Peter Ruck of the Talent Acquisition team comments.

The Belfast team at Version 1 offers a broad range of opportunities across multiple areas, including software development, project management, and business development. It also provides an exciting gateway for individuals without a technological background to join Northern Ireland’s thriving tech sector. Version 1 is supported by specialised teams in HR, finance, marketing, legal, and ESG. The ESG team in particular plays a vital role in fostering a culture of positive health and well-being, whilst promoting Version 1’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, ensuring that everyone feels a true sense of belonging.

Peter is keen to emphasise the Careers Open Night is accessible and open to all, and welcomes anyone keen to learn more about a pathway into tech to attend - whether you an experienced professional, just starting off in your career, a recent graduate seeking more knowledge around the early careers programme, or you possess transferable skills which would lend themselves well to an entirely new career in the tech sector.

Peter comments: “The open night offers a great opportunity to discover more about Version 1, what we do, our company culture, and the core values that drive us. We're all about integrity, honesty, no ego, personal commitment, delivering excellence and being customer-first. We believe that a diverse workplace, rich with different ideas and perspectives, is key to fostering collaboration and innovation. At Version 1, we have an exceptional team that genuinely comes together to support one another, helping each other grow and drive the company's success forward."

"It’s the people who truly make it a great place to work. The company embraces a 'no-ego' culture where senior leaders are highly visible, actively listening, and eager to engage with everyone. Version 1 has built its global success on valuing its employees’ ideas and input, creating an environment where every voice matters."

Willingness to learn and ambition are key soft skills that Version 1 is hoping to see in potential candidates, and Peter says whilst academic qualifications have their place, they particularly value applicants from people with enthusiasm, drive and a willingness to learn. “Our core values, such as achieving excellence and drive, are just as important to us as your academic qualifications. If you think you match our core values, we would love to see you there.”

The Version 1 Careers Open Night takes place this Thursday 26 September from 5.30pm until 9pm and includes the opportunity to network with Version 1 employees face-to-face, including the Belfast talent team. Light refreshments will also be available on the night.
