Tech consortium strikes gold with International Trade Award

  • An international consortium of tech innovators is celebrating its success at the inaugural International Trade Awards, organised by the Institute of Export and International Trade (IOE&T).

The Technology Enabled Trading Alliance (TETA) picked up the ‘Innovation in Trade Award’ in recognition of its blockchain solution for the food industry.

Spearheaded by Northern Ireland blockchain innovator ubloquity, TETA brings together experts from across the tech, veterinary and farming sectors to revolutionise supply chain assurance through digital innovation.

TETA’s award-winning blockchain solution replaces the manual ‘in check’ veterinary process required for cross-border trade with remote digital checks that are authenticated and highly efficient. Earlier this year the consortium partnered with Welsh organic lamb producer Rhug Estate, enabling the frictionless movement of its quality lamb products to export markets post-Brexit, using the blockchain-enabled technology.

The IOE&IT International Trade Awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of businesses, teams and individuals in the UK and worldwide who represent and strive for excellence in cross-border trade. Across 8 categories, the awards shine a spotlight on those who put innovation at the heart of their business and trade strategy.

Speaking at the awards which took place at the Import Export Show in London, John Buxton, Chair of TETA said:“We’re delighted to have won the Innovation in Trade award, against some very stiff competition. Since establishing TETA this year, we have been focused on solving real world problems, saving importers and exporters time and money and ensuring seamless movement of goods across borders.

“We have brought together a really strong team with expertise across veterinary science, tech, farming and international trade, and we want to take this solution even further, to help more businesses export and ultimately revolutionise cross-border trade globally. This win is an important stepping stone for us on that journey.”
