As students across the UK collected their A-Level results, Deloitte said today that it will be taking on 20 school leavers in Belfast in September through its higher-level apprenticeship scheme BrightStart, and also opened the application process for 2024.
Deloitte’s BrightStart apprenticeship programme offers a chance for school leavers to kick-start their careers. The programme is an earn-while-you-learn apprenticeship with the chance to gain professional and degree-level qualifications.
The firm’s Northern Ireland programme was co-created by Ulster University Business School and enables apprentices the chance to gain a degree in Business Technology while also working directly with Deloitte clients during their training.
Each year the firm welcomes more than 200 BrightStart apprentices in its locations across the UK. The programme was recently ranked sixth in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer list.

Applications for 2024 will open in September 2023. Students are encouraged to register their interest now to receive further support and guidance on the application process when the roles open.
Andy McKibbin, partner at Deloitte, said: “Congratulations to everyone who has received their A-Level results today. Leaving school is an important transition for young people and a hugely exciting time for students to start thinking about the first step in their careers.
“To all of our new BrightStart apprentices, well done on your results and I look forward to welcoming you to Deloitte in September.”
Kerry Moore, 23, who joined Deloitte through the BrightStart programme, was earlier this year named NI Higher Level Apprentice of the year 2023.

Kerry said: “At secondary school in Antrim Grammar, Business Studies was my favourite subject and I had my heart set on getting a business degree at university. I applied for five different business-focused degree courses and received all five offers, leaving me with a great selection of options.
“This was when my friend told me about Deloitte’s BrightStart apprenticeship scheme. It was an obvious choice for me. I changed track from university to the apprenticeship scheme. I loved the idea of not taking the “usual” route of studying full-time and getting hands-on experience.
“Looking back on my apprenticeship, it was a great experience and after graduating I have been promoted to consultant. I’m excited to progress in Deloitte and keep going on my career journey. I’m in a position to try new roles, find out about new areas of the business, and pick up more qualifications on the way.”
