RENDR, a new creative industries festival taking place in Belfast next month has revealed its lineup of speakers from the gaming industry, including concept and environment artists that have worked on AAA titles including The Last of Us, Call of Duty, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and episodic adventure The Walking Dead: A New Frontier.
Taking place over two evenings from 23-24 February at Portview Trade Centre in Belfast, RENDR, which is supported by NI Screen, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Belfast City Council, will welcome creative minds from across the global film, gaming, animation and immersive tech industries to explore the space where creativity and technology collide.

Attendees will gain insight and inspiration from up to 30 speakers whose expertise spans the breadth of the creative industries.
Among the speakers is Shaddy Safadi, founder of One Pixel Brush. A concept artist and art director, Shaddy has worked with some of the most talented developers in the world on AAA games including the Uncharted series, Call of Duty, Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us Part I and Part II.
Also announced as a speaker is Dermott Burns, a 3D environment, concept and visual development artist who has worked on new IPs and existing AAA titles including Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Joining them is Tara Rueping, an art director who has worked on titles including Telltale Games’ episodic adventures The Walking Dead: A New Frontier and Tales from the Borderlands.

Other speakers include Dr Shaojun Bian, an applied research scientist at Humain which develops digital humans for AAA game studios including Xbox Game Studios, 343 Industries, Activision, Obsidian and ZeniMax; Chipzel, the BAFTA-nominated video game composer; plus Holly Johnstone and Chris Thursten of Hypixel Studios which is currently developing its first standalone sandbox game, Hytale.
Festival director Michael Weir says: “RENDR is delighted to welcome such a prestigious lineup of speakers from the gaming industry to Belfast. The festival is an opportunity to hear from world-class talent whose expertise and experience covers many aspects of the industry, from concept and environment art to narrative development and composing music for games.
