An innovative comic-focused initiative for young people and schools in the Belfast area which showcases careers in the IT industry has been launched to drive awareness of the employment opportunities in the local tech sector.
Earlier this year, Startacus and Revolve Comics launched TECH CHAMPIONS, an exciting tech-themed careers comic with the aim of highlighting the diverse range of tech careers and opportunities which exist for young people in the North West region.
Having been received so positively by young people, educators and employers alike, the team are delighted to announce the details of a second comic - TECH CHAMPIONS Belfast. This comic, aimed at young people in the Belfast area, will showcase four local tech professionals and entrepreneurs and the pathways they took to develop their tech-related careers or businesses.

TECH CHAMPIONS is a collaborative project by Startacus and Revolve Comics, in partnership with major sponsors, Alchemy Technology Services, BazaarVoice and Version 1. In addition, Startacus is delighted to announce that Bring I.T. On, RealTime Recruitment, Barclays Eagle Labs and Young Enterprise NI are supporting the comic as community sponsors.
Alastair Cameron, Startacus co-founder said: "We received such a positive reaction and feedback from young people, teachers and employers in the North West about our first TECH CHAMPIONS comic, so we were keen to do more and create a comic specifically for young people in the Belfast area and beyond, to champion tech roles and careers and signpost them to the fantastic array of opportunities in these dynamic and fast-growing sectors.
By using a visual approach, through comic storytelling, we aim to share knowledge, inspire and improve understanding in a more inclusive, appealing and interesting way. We are once again hugely proud of the collaborative aspect of this initiative, working with partners who are fully committed to inspiring our young people."

Belfast-based secondary and grammar schools are now being invited to receive copies of the comic and in the New Year will have the opportunity to attend a real-life event when the tech professionals illustrated in the comic will be brought to life! The event will enable local students and education providers to hear directly from those local tech professionals and entrepreneurs as they chat about their own varied backgrounds and journeys in the tech sector, and discuss the diverse range of tech careers and opportunities which exist locally.
