  • Northern Ireland’s largest electricity generator, AES UK & Ireland and ethical food company, Suki Tea, have been recognised for encouraging more sustainable lifestyles at the Business in the Community NI (BITCNI) Responsible Business Awards.

They won the Marketplace Leadership Award, sponsored by leading ICT solutions provider Fujitsu, for large businesses and small businesses respectively. The award recognises companies that are committed to developing innovation solutions which help inspire responsible customer behaviour.

Speaking about the accolade, Chris James, Fujitsu Director of Delivery Public Sector, Northern Ireland said:

“In today’s ever evolving and fast paced society, there is pressure on businesses to respond to consumer’s changing needs as quickly as possible. The Marketplace Leadership Award recognises companies that respond to this challenge but do so in a responsible way – creating solutions, services and products that make it easy for consumers to make sustainability part of their everyday life.”

More than 500 business people gathered at Belfast Waterfront Hall to see Northern Ireland’s leading responsible companies recognised for their outstanding contributions.  The judges applauded Suki Tea’s unique ‘triple certified’ range of teas that are sold in 2,500 cafes across the UK and Ireland and commended AES UK & Ireland for taking practical actions to address pressing social and environmental issues.

Chris added; “We offer many congratulations to AES UK & Ireland and Suki Tea who together with the other BITCNI Responsible Business winners are helping ensure responsible behaviour remains a key boardroom issue.”
