    Your role in the team

     

    The Senior Manager of Data Management will lead multiple teams within the IT department to deliver on data management solutions to enable increased data understanding in support of effective data-driven decisions. At Allstate, we bring innovation to data management through patented solutions for standardized data exchange, a scaled approach to data cataloging for data discoverability, and an internally developed data marketplace. The Senior Manager of Data Management will drive further innovation within data management to ultimately decrease risks and accelerate insights.

     

    At this level, the manager sets the strategic direction in support of the business objectives of the company, ensuring the structures and processes are in place to effectively deliver the mission of their organization. They partner closely with their aligned business partners to collectively create a work environment that enables all to be their best and deliver on their commitments. They are personally accountable for enabling organizational change, delivering business results by working across the organization, development of employees, and demonstrated continuous improvement. They demonstrate a broad level of influence across the IT organization, with their business partners, peer leaders and senior leaders.

     

        

     

    Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

     

    Technology & Platform Management

     

    • Accountable for overseeing the teams that manages the technology platforms to deliver on an enterprise data marketplace:
      • Oversees delivery of vended and internally engineered components within the data marketplace product suite to deliver on a one-stop shop for data standardization, discovery, and access.
      • Accountable for overseeing the team that builds and supports a common data model for the enterprise.
      • Accountable for overseeing the team that builds and supports reference data for the enterprise. This includes both the administrative support and application(s) responsible for the delivery of reference data to mission critical systems.
    • Partners closely with Senior Manager over data privacy solutions to ensure an integrated vision and roadmap for data management.

    • Highly proficient in the business of information technology with a demonstrated understanding of technology strategy and emerging trends in the industry.
    • Delivers operational excellence towards system availability and security through attention to compliance standards and rigorous release/change management.  

     

    Business Partner Management

     

    • Leverages external industry relationships to improve data marketplace offering.  
    • Influences at all levels to successfully deliver on business commitments spanning multiple organizations and levels of complexity.
    • Leads the process of setting and managing expectations; continually seeks opportunities to be a thought partner and increase internal and external business partner satisfaction and deepen relationships.  

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
    • 5+ years’ experience in a technical role such as a software engineer, DBA, or solutions architect, and
    • 5+ years of management experience; including leading leaders; should include accountability for all aspects of leading an organization including people processes, client/partner relationships, work processes and delivery of work products, and      
    • Demonstrated ability to drive agile transformation, and
    • Demonstrated ability to drive automation, and
    • Experience leading global teams.

     

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
    • Familiarity with modern software engineering languages, practices, and pipelines
    • Familiarity with logical data modeling and benefits of different file formats
    • Familiarity with one or more public clouds (AWS or Azure)
    • Familiarity with machine learning concepts
