    Your role in the team

     

    Allstate’s London office is part of the Allstate Corporation based in Chicago, IL, USA. Allstate Investments manages approximately $80 billion of assets. Our goal is to provide sustainable, competitive, risk-adjusted investment returns and investment-related services for the benefit of The Allstate Corporation. Investment performance for our portfolios has consistently provided excess returns for our customers, and we attribute that success in large part to the quality of our people. The size of the investment group exceeds 300 individuals across a variety of investment disciplines including, fixed income, equities, private securities, commercial mortgages and derivative asset classes, as well as, finance and technology.     Allstate Investments established an office in London in 2007 with a focus on making private equity investments outside the Americas, in Europe and Asia. Allstate Investments’ Private Equity Team is now seeking an Associate who has a passion for private equity investing to join our London-based team.

    Our overall private equity investment mandate is global, emphasising buyout and growth strategies. Our offices are located in Chicago and London, with 15 investment professionals currently on the team. The private equity portfolio is approximately $6.6 billion in size, split across primary fund commitments, co-investments and direct deals

    Associates within Allstate Private Equity team assist in all phases of investing – origination, evaluation, monitoring and managing.  In the London office, Associates have specific responsibility for investments made in Europe, Asia, and Africa.  Associates may occasionally be asked to participate in projects with the Chicago office.

     

    In alignment with corporate goals, specific responsibilities for the Private Equity Associate will include:

     

    • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis used to support the underwriting of potential investment opportunities;
    • Preparing memoranda and other materials to support investment recommendations and assisting with the presentation of recommendations to investment committee
    • Monitoring and reporting on the performance of existing investments, including financial analysis and communication with fund sponsors and management teams, as required
    • Research into and evaluation of market conditions in existing and potential new sectors and geographies
    • Preparation and presentation of analysis to support strategic planning and asset allocation decisions

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
    • The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years post-graduate work experience in M&A, or private investments in a bank or a well-known investment house
    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Good verbal and written communication skills, including solid presentation skills
    • Strong numeracy, modelling skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work towards multiple deadlines at once and operate well within a team
    • International travel will be required

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • 2.1 grade or higher in primary degree
    • Non-English language skills viewed favourably, in particular Mandarin
    • Experience with Capital IQ or other M&A market data tools preferred
