The All-Island Innovation Programme is an InterTradeIreland funded programme established to promote and encourage innovation for Small-to-Medium size Enterprises (SME) across the island. For our second master class of the current three-year programme we are hosting an open innovation masterclass and the launch of the All Island Open Innovation Platform (AIOIP).

This event will take place in Conference Room 1, Riddel Hall, 185 Stranmillis Road, Queen's University belfast at 8.30am to 12pm), comprising of three interrelated sessions as detailed below in the schedule.

The morning will open with a discussion from Mr Colm Higgins, Director of the Northern Ireland Technology Centre (NITC) at Queen's University Belfast. Colm has assisted many small and large businesses throughout the UK and Ireland overcome innovation challenges they have faced. He will detail some of these case studies using examples of start-up businesses, scale-up businesses and larger SMEs that have come to the NITC with challenges and how these companies have benefitted from a policy of open innovation.

The second part of our morning will introduce attendees to the All Island Open Innovation Platform (AIOIP) which has been developed to nurture inter-organizational collaborative innovation and enhancement of the innovation ecosystem (both regionally and at an All Island level). Helen Potter from MATRIX, will introduce the Open Innovation Platform and present a masterclass about the benefits of the platform and open innovations for SMEs.

For the final part of our morning we will have three local companies who will pitch innovation challenges they have faced recently. They will hold an interactive session, and present their scenarios and the benefits of signing up to the platform.
