Coderetreat

Belfast is behind. Behind 116 other cities that participated in Global Day of Code Retreat in November 2018 including Cambridge, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Southampton and Valencia. With this event we're going to catch up.

Coderetreat is a day-long, intensive practice event, focusing on the fundamentals of software development and design. By providing developers the opportunity to take part in focused practice, away from the pressures of 'getting things done' we're going to collaborate, learn and develop skills.

The day will include five pair programming sessions and will focus on abstractions, modular design and test-driven development. This event is for anyone who enjoys coding and wants to improve.

The event is free to attend. The ticket price is a deposit which will be refunded to attendees on the day. Any money left from deposits not refunded on the day will be donated to Farset Labs, a charity.

If the person you are pairing with for that session agrees, you can work in any language. While open to anyone, this event is most suitable for people who know the basic syntax and tools for their chosen language or languages. We expect attendees to bring a laptop that is ready to go; you will need a working IDE or text editor, compiler or interpreter and unit test framework. If you don't have a laptop or are unsure about these requirements please contact the organisers before buying a ticket.

This Coderetreat is run by volunteers from the Belfast tech community and Farset Labs; we'll handle logistics and provide a facilitator. After the event we'll grab a drink nearby, you are welcome to join us.
