More speakers announced for DeFi Conf 2022

  • DeFi Conf 2022 will take placeThursday 6 October and will see some of the brightest speakers in this sector descend on Belfast’s Titanic Hotel for a one-day conference packed full of discussions and debate.

    The event is Ireland’s first conference dedicated to Cryptocurrencies, the Metaverse and NFTs and is appealing to wealth managers, financial advisors, private investors and technology entrepreneurs from across Europe, all keen to learn more about these evolving sectors.

    The term DeFi refers to digital platforms and applications that allow peer-to-peer transactions through software without reliance on an intermediary, like a bank. The most popular uses are lending, borrowing and trading across a range of new digital assets.

    Here are some of the speakers participating at the event:

    Niels Juul: CEO, No Fat Ego

    Originating from Copenhagen ad agencies, Niels Juul became one of the founding partners of Von Dutch – a global fashion phenomenon of the 2000’s. He since became a senior executive in the film business and has produced the last three Martin Scorsese movies (“Silence”, “The Irishman” and “Killers of the flower moon”) and is currently producing “Ferrari” by Michael Mann, starring Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz. Juul sits on the advisory board of a number of brands and owns No Fat Ego, an independent production company in “Hollywood”.

     

     

    Andrew Mulvenny: Crypto Market Operations Lead EMEA, Coinbase

    Andrew is a senior risk & compliance professional with a passion for Innovation and challenging the norm. With over ten years of global financial services experience in Risk Management. A track record of establishing new banking entities, implementing enterprise risk frameworks, and defining risk appetite. Skilled in derivatives, financial regulation, and risk management. Andrew’s current role is leading the establishment of the Counterparty Credit Risk Function in Dublin and delivering ICAAP as part of Barclays European expansion. Additionally Andrew’s current research is based on the evolution of Risk Management in the advent of Digital Currencies.

     

    Paula Marie Kilgarriff: Retail Innovation Lecturer, Technological University Dublin  

    Paula Marie is a Web3 Brand Activation & Retail innovation lecturer & consultant with 20 years of international experience in the Luxury & Fashion Industries. She is developing Web 3 and Metaverse ecosystem for luxury fashion brands to create omniversal fashion experiences using IOTs, AR/VR/XR AI/ML & Blockchain Development in building new and sustainable innovative solutions with circularity and entrepreneurism as the focus. Brands include Sephora, Nike and Ferarri. Paula lectures Retail Innovation & Emerging Technologies at London College of Fashion, & Technological University Dublin, Nottingham Trent University. She is head of creative partnerships at Clout. art/SwaySocial, an NFT powered Social Media and monetisation platform for Metacreators & Head of Fashion and Retail at Threedium 3D Immersive Retail Solutions.

     

     

    Jillian Godsil: Editor in Chief & Founder, Blockleaders

    Jillian is a co-founder and journalist in the Blockleaders.io. She is a freelancer for Irish Tech News, Irish Central, The Irish Independent and The Irish Times. She has her own radio shows on DublinCityFM and EastCoastFM. Jillian’s first job after graduating from Trinity College was as a systems analyst with JP Morgan. She is advisor to a number of ICOs, has been named a Crypto Queen by In Zero Conferences as well as listed in the 50 most influential women in the global blockchain roll call. She is a board member of EOS Dublin. She keynotes and chairs blockchain events around the world – including Kiev, Austin, Muscat, Columbo, Dublin, Dubai, Amsterdam, Malta and London

    Matt Green: Senior Associate, Shoosmiths

    Matt is the Blockchain Litigation Lead at Shoosmiths and is a lawyer specialising in Crypto, Technology, Blockchain and Intellectual Property. His practice is designed to service businesses utilising blockchain technology, recovering crypto assets and advising on copyright, trademarks and data.Having set the precedent in common law jurisdictions worldwide that crypto assets are property in 2019 following payment of a ransom in Bitcoin (see AA v Persons Unknown Re. Bitcoin), Matt has developed proven best practices in tracing and recovering stolen or misappropriated crypto assets across multiple jurisdictions for businesses and individuals. He is featured advisor on THE CAKE, a directory for trusted Blockchain, De-Fi and NFT experts, and is a contributor to several publishers, writing on digital asset recovery, including for Bitcoin Magazine and Blockchain Industry Review. He has also co-written an academic paper entitled “Decentralised Autonomous Organisations: The Future of Corporate Governance or an Illusion”
