UK & Ireland’s No.1 Hackathon Returns to Belfast in May 2022

  • #HackTheHub have announced their annual hackathon which will take place in the McAuley Building, Belfast on Saturday 28th May 2022.

With support from headline sponsor Slice, and backing from Github, Confluent, Business Insider, Datactics, Analytics Engines, Enthuse & Nigma, this annual hackathon will be a great opportunity for the tech community to take a break from building for others, and spend some time building for themselves.

This year the theme is focused around data and AI, the teams will be equipped with datasets and will be tasked to tackle a no. of challenges within the space of 12 hours.

With remote work becoming more and more popular over the years primarily due to the pandemic, it has also come with its negative implications. The American Psychiatric Association conducted a survey of 1,000 online workers in 2021, and the majority of those workers working from home said that they had experienced some sort of negative mental health impacts, including isolation and loneliness.

Speaking about the event Conor Graham from Nigma said: "With being in tech and working from home ourselves we knew that it couldn't just be us that were sick of the zoom calls so that's why we decided to have an in-person Hackathon where the tech community could reunite with old friends, take a break and develop creative ideas, new innovations, in-depth education, so that you can rest assured that you will return to your career inspired, with new and stronger relationships.”
