A new Jobs & Skills website has been launched by the Department for the Economy and Department for Communities to help people made unemployed by Covid-19.
While many businesses have been able to retain staff during the coronavirus pandemic, thousands have faced mandatory redundancy and unemployment as businesses have adapted to reduced economic activity. The Covid-19 pandemic is set to cause one of the biggest recessions on record, with unemployment spiking since April and most of those let go being under 35.
The Department for the Economy and Department for Communities have been looking for a way to help those who are out of work right now while lockdown makes it difficult to find help. They've now launched a new Jobs & Skills website campaign to help deliver those services in a single location.
The new website can be found at www.nidirect.gov.uk/campaigns/jobs-and-skills and it covers a range of job services. All of these resources were previously spread out on different webpages, but the new Jobs & Skills webpage brings them all together in one place:
Communities Minister Caral Ní Chuilín commented on the new site: "With staff numbers in offices reduced and face to face interactions restricted, the pressures on front line services are significant. Providing self-service on-line assistance is key to dealing with the increased demands both Departments face and it was considered vital to improve the accessibility and navigability of online support. By bringing together in one place all the advice, assistance and support people need to help them find employment, it’s hoped this new page will assist those most in need during these very challenging times."
