  • Raymond Dillon is a managing director and software developer at his own Tyrone-based start-up, Proto Software.

He has created a not-for-profit Microsoft Community Website to help people inform and learn about all things Microsoft.

He is searching for as many bloggers and content creators as he can find to help add to the website so that it is beneficial to as many people as possible.

The entrepreneur told Sync that “absolutely anyone at all can contribute freely to the website and you don’t have to have any specific qualifications. No matter your background, the idea is that there will be something on the website that interests you. Microsoft is involved in various industries and I want to ensure that workers in those sectors are aware of what Microsoft has to offer them.”

Raymond informed us that he has used Microsoft products from an early age and went on to study Computer Science at QUB.

“I was involved with the Microsoft Academic Engagement Team as a student, participating in Hackathons and various different events. I then went on to do my dissertation on the Microsoft Cloud and the Internet of Things. A year after graduating, I started Proto Software, along with my brother Darren,” he said. “In 2018, I was awarded the Windows Insider MVP title by Microsoft as recognition for my contribution to the Windows Community – I have been rewarded with this title every year since.”

Raymond added: “I’ve always been impressed on what Microsoft has to offer in different industries such as software development, education, gaming and healthcare. I wanted to build the community website to raise awareness of what Microsoft has to offer the local community and show that it is not all software development.”

He thinks there is definitely room to expand beyond the Microsoft-focused technology but wants to focus on the US tech giant for the time-being.

If you want to contribute to the website in any way , feel free to e-mail Raymond at raymond@protosoftware.co.uk or fill in the contact form at http://www.nimsftcommunity.com/
