The start-up community platform Startacus has announced it will be hosting a ‘Women in Tech’ themed half-day event and start-up pitching competition during the 2020 Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Enterprise Week.
The event will take place on 5 March 2020 and will focus on wider themes of diversity and inclusion. Startacus said it will consist of inspiring discussions, keynote speakers, workshops, a women-in-tech start-up pitch competition and an evening networking event.
The pitch competition will invite shortlisted female-led tech start-ups from across the island of Ireland to pitch their businesses to a panel of enterprise experts.
The overall winner will be announced at the evening social event and the winner will receive a prize package, details of which will be announced at a later date.

Alastair Cameron, Startacus co-founder said: “As well as inspiring and empowering attendees, we see this as a great opportunity to showcase innovative start-ups in the local area, bring standout keynote speakers to the city, and in turn encourage more people to embark on their own entrepreneurial journeys”.
Mayor of Derry City Michaela Boyle added that the competition was an “excellent” addition to Enterprise Week 2020, and that it “promises to be another huge success with an excellent range of events being organised during 2-6 March to assist businesses across the council area”.
Further details on the overall event, keynote speakers, confirmed sponsors and competition will be announced shortly.
