With turnover expectations in the region of £25 million plus in 2019 and employing over 200 staff, Elite Electronic Systems (Elite), based in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, are the leading provider of sub-contractor electronics manufacturing services in the UK. They supply to a wide range of successful companies across several sectors in the UK, Ireland and internationally. These include Medical, Telecommunications, IOT and Industrial sectors.
Having realised the importance of establising internationally recognised management system standards for their business, having already achieved ISO 13485 Medical Devices Quality Management System and ISO 9001, Elite decided to work with Quadra Ltd in order to achieve ISO 27001 Information Security Management System certification. The decision to instigate and implement the world-class Information Security standard came about for a variety of reasons;
Background
A combination of intending to undertake ISO 27001 for several years, on-going inquiries from customers, and pressure to comply with GDPR, led Elite to commit to achieving the accreditation.
Objective
To further strengthen their position in the market places they operate in, show commitment to their existing customer base and with the view of attracting new customers, Elite decided to work with the specialists within Quadra to write and develop the Information Security Management System.
Action
Quadra worked closely with the team at Elite in documenting policies and procedures. In conjunction with Elite, Quadra established relevant controls in line with the requirements of ISO 27001. Following this Quadra carried our several internal audits to ensure Elite were ready for their external certification.
Results
Since implementing their Information Security Management System and achieving certification to ISO 27001, the team at Elite have witnessed a significant shift in awareness of information security among the staff. Furthermore, new training objectives are now be developed to encompass information security and a commitment to improve their management system on a continual basis.
