Top Local Authority For Start-Ups in Northern Ireland

  • Start-Up Loans, part of the British Business Bank, today names the top local authorities* for start-ups across the UK, based on the number of Start-Up loans successfully drawn down since 2012 by borrowers in their areas in comparison to other local authorities.

    Belfast was found to be the top local authority for start-ups in Northern Ireland, with 219 Start Up loans successfully drawn down since 2012, representing 1 in every thousand local adults.

    This coincides with the beginning of Business Finance Week 2022 (7-11 November 2022**), hosted by the British Business Bank and business support partners from across the UK.

    **On 7 November, 11:00-12:15, the Make Your Business Dream a Reality with Start Up Loans webinar will introduce you to our low-interest personal loans (for business purposes) of up to £25,000 and 12 months of free mentoring, to help you start or grow a new business (up to three years trading for first loans, and five years trading for second loans). Attendees will hear from the people behind the Start Up Loans programme, as well as inspiring stories and tips from entrepreneurs who have received a loan to support their own journey. This will be followed by an interactive drop-in session with Start Up Loans delivery partner ‘The Hub’, on how to get started with an application.
