School and College Leaver programmes in Operate with PwC - Autumn 2022

  • Job description

Operate is the fastest-growing area of our business and supports the delivery of a range of client programmes across a variety of regulated market sectors. We deliver our client work from a range of locations, providing our clients with cost-effective delivery, access to subject matter expertise and operational excellence disciplines. We work with everyone from banks and insurers to oil and gas companies, pharmaceutical businesses, telecommunications companies and local governments. Operate delivers large operational and managed service solutions in one place. It’s aimed at supporting clients with regulatory, risk and compliance requirements.

We bring together regulatory insight from our subject matter experts from across the firm, and combine that with highly skilled operational staff and innovative technology, to solve these complex operational problems.

We drive an exceptional employee experience that's “people-focused”. Our supported team structures, working patterns and technology, create an operating model and workforce that’s fit for the future.

    Operate - Finance Solutions

Finance Solutions is a team of finance professionals who operate elements of clients’ finance functions. Our model is based on best practice and technology in shared services, operating in the spirit of partnership with our clients to minimise the burden of their staff and structures.

Based in Belfast, we work with a range of local and global clients, across various industries, supporting systems and processes and generating accounts and reports.

    Programme

A position on our School and College Leaver programme is one of the best ways to kickstart your career with PwC. All of our School and College Leaver programmes are designed to help you develop your business skills through real client work, while also completing formal training and studying towards qualifications to give you a head start in your career. PwC will provide you with support all the way. You’ll earn a competitive salary, benefit from our excellent support networks and have the opportunity to continually progress your career. Just like our graduate joiners, you’ll work on varied and challenging client and internal projects, which make a real difference to the world of business. You’ll be coached by our people, who are experts in their field, and at the same time, thanks to our study support, you won’t need to worry about paying for course and exam fees, textbooks or revision materials.

     What you’ll do

Initially, your role will involve running the various elements of the client’s accounting functions and supporting the production of interactive monthly Management Information packs. You will be trained in accounting principles and software, and get hands-on experience of how this relates to a business’s finance functions. As you develop, you will take on more responsibility, get to interact with clients, and coach new team members. You could be working on a portfolio of medium sized businesses, or be dedicated to one client, and there is the opportunity to get a variety of experience.

    What you’ll gain

You'll develop technical and business skills through studying towards the Accounting Technician qualification from Accounting Technicians Ireland (ATI) with Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI). Through this you'll develop a formal understanding of business and develop finance, accounting and taxation. Along the way, you'll also learn through doing, building your communication, relationships, project management and personal skills.

If you successfully complete the Accounting Technician qualification, you will have the opportunity to progress to complete the full Chartered Accountancy qualification (with Chartered Accountants Ireland).

    What you’ll need

Minimum requirements are 112 UCAS tariff from up to three full A-Levels or equivalent (not including General Studies or Critical Thinking), and a Grade C or 4 or above in GCSE (or equivalent) English Language and Mathematics.

Exams must have been taken in the same sitting and resits are accepted only where modules or papers have been retaken in the same academic year. If you have any extenuating circumstances related to your exam marks or the sequencing of your exams, please declare this on your application and this will be considered as we review your application.

    When to apply

The deadline for applications is 12 November 2021
The deadline for online assessments is 14 November 2021 (games based assessment) and 26 November 2021 (video interview)
Assessment centres will take place from 13 December 2021
