  • Accenture, the global management and technology consulting firm headquartered in Ireland, has acquired the digital marketing company, Wire Stone, for an undisclosed sum.

Wire Stone is the latest in a string of startup acquisitions by Accenture in the last year alone, including the mobile design startup, Intrepid, which it bought less than two months ago, and is designed to strengthen the consulting firm’s ability to provide clients with data-driven marketing and design expertise via its digital subsidiary, Accenture Interactive.

Wire Stone, which specialises in creating integrated digital marketing campaigns that leverage cutting edge technologies to tell compelling brand stories, counts some of the world’s leading tech companies as clients, including Microsoft, PayPal, HP and eBay.

“Great experiences begin with great stories,” explained Accenture Interactive’s Glen Hartman. “Wire Stone’s proven ability to tell engaging stories by blending creativity and technology, together with Accenture’s scale and business transformation expertise, is a unique and powerful combination.”

Wire Stone, which is headquartered in the USA but also has a presence in Europe, currently employs around 200 people across 10 different offices. The company’s CEO, Dan Lynch, explained the merits of Wire Stone’s acquisition by Accenture: “By bringing our creative and digital marketing talent and expertise together with Accenture Interactive, we are now able to deliver end-to-end solutions for clients utilizing their deep industry expertise and intimate relationships. We believe this winning combination is a pivotal moment for our clients and our teams, as we continue to push the boundaries of creating remarkable customer experiences.”

Accenture Interactive, which employs 18,000 people and would be the world’s largest digital agency if it wasn’t a subsidiary of a larger firm, made $4.4 billion last year and is projecting revenue of $6 billion for 2017. Wire Stone represents the fourteenth acquisition by Accenture’s fast growing digital subsidiary in the last five years alone.

“It takes diverse talent and culture to deliver on Accenture Interactive’s mission of helping our clients build the best experiences on the planet and with the acquisition of Wire Stone we are bringing together a top team of technologists, strategists, consultants and designers to do just that,” explained Brian Whipple, head of Accenture Interactive. “We are thrilled to welcome these creative marketers to our family to drive innovation with our clients.”
