  • According to Artem Russakovskii at Android Police, his Google Home Mini was near-constantly recording sounds in his home and sending them to Google while he was reviewing it.

When Russakovskii returned the device to Google, where the engineers determined the device was registering “phantom” touches.

When interacting with the device, you can either say “OK Google” or tap its touch-sensitive surface.

The issue with Russakovskii’s Home Mini was that it thought it was being touched when it wasn’t.

Google issued a statement in response: “We learned of an issue impacting a small number of Google Home Mini devices that could cause the touch mechanism to behave incorrectly. We rolled out an update on October 7 to mitigate this issue.”

The device isn’t released until 19th October.
