  • Uber Technologies Inc. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi stepped down from the New York Times Company’s board of directors last Friday, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The filing cited “increased responsibilities” as Uber’s CEO as the reason for him stepping down, and not because of any disagreements with the New York Times about their “operations, policies or practices”.

Khosrowshahi previously served as CEO of Expedia Inc. before he resigned in August to take on the role as CEO of Uber, after months of speculation as to who would take the role.

According to a government filing, Khosrowshahi notified the board on Thursday that he would be resigning from the role that he’s held since 2015.

The New York Times recently fell under heavy criticism for not initially disclosing that Khosrowshahi was on its board when it published of him as the new CEO of Uber.
