  • Startups across Great Britain and Northern Ireland are being invited to apply for a new ‘corporate matchmaking’ accelerator created by Venturespring, the London-based venture development studio.

The new Venturespring Ignite accelerator is designed to help fuel the growth of the UK’s most innovative startups by matching them with the most appropriate corporate resources and investment opportunities.

Cassandra Harris, CEO of Venturespring, explained: “Venturespring Ignite goes beyond a traditional accelerator. It isn’t about corporates paying ‘lip service’ to digital transformation or startups being able to leverage a big brand – this is match-making and collaboration that fundamentally changes the economic prospects of both established businesses and the disruptors changing the markets they operate in

“We have created a new model in business creation and acceleration which is backed by our corporate partners. This goes beyond ‘classroom-style learning’. The startups that join us have exclusive access to hard-to-reach corporate resources that allow them to scale quickly and the corporates get to fully embrace innovation in a way that future-proofs their business.”

Startups in the artificial intelligence, healthtech, fintech, augmented reality, virtual reality, mobility, media, aerospace and travel sectors are encouraged to apply for the new accelerator, with the company’s chosen for the first cohort then taking part in a six-week programme where they will be matched up with the most appropriate corporate partners.

The matchmaking will be based on the startup’s biggest needs or challenges, with the partners then collaborating to help the startup overcome those challenges and scale up their businesses.

Some of the corporates already signed up for the matchmaking accelerator, which is due to kick off in September, include IBM, Vodafone, Tata Communications and Unilever.

At the end of the accelerator programme one startup will win the chance to attend a week-long summit on Richard Branson’s Necker Island, where they will network with Fortune 500 leaders, top venture capitalists and Richard Branson himself.

Northern Ireland startups can apply for the Venturespring Ignite programme now.
