  • Google is potentially set to launch three Pixel smartwatches later this year, according to a report by Winfuture.
The devices will likely have Qualcomm’s upcoming wearable-dedicated chip, which has been teased to be launching with a “lead smartwatch”, and will “significantly change the Wear OS ecosystem.”
According to Engadget, the new chip is designed to slim down watch designs, extend battery life, and come with built-in features, such as GPS, LTE, WiFi, and a heart-rate sensor.
Apple currently has a stronghold on the wearables market, having shipped over 8 million wearables in the last quarter of 2017, representing 21 percent of the market share, so it makes sense for Google to try and infiltrate this space.
