  • In an annual letter to shareholders on Wednesday, Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos announced that the company has hit over 100 million Prime members.

The revelation is significant in two ways. One, just by the sheer size of Amazon’s subscriber base; but two, this is the first time in the company’s 13-year history of offering Prime membership that they’ve revealed their subscriber count.

According to Bezos, the e-commerce giant also shipped over five billion items with Prime globally in 2017.

Additionally, India, a country Prime recently launched in, is the largest growing market on the service, adding “more members in India in its first year than any previous geography in Amazon’s history."
