  • Dr Dennis Jennings is one of ten distinguished winners of this year’s prestigious UCD Alumni Awards. Jennings who graduated with a BSc (Bachelor of Science) in 1967 was UCD’s first full time Director of Computing Service from 1977 to 1999. The UCD Alumni Awards celebrate the global accomplishments of some of UCD’s brightest graduates.  Nominated by their peers and faculty, the ten award winners for 2016  feature a list of recipients who have made an exceptional contribution in their chosen field. The awardees include Ireland’s current Ambassador in the US, HE Anne Anderson;  one of the pioneers of the Internet, Dr. Dennis Jennings and law graduate, filmmaker and Academy Award winner Benjamin Cleary.

The development of a new student alumni career mentoring programme, an increase in the number of students supported by scholarships funded by alumni and the launch of an exclusive online networking platform are just some of the many changes and enhancements being made by UCD Alumni Development team as the university works to further strengthen relationships between UCD students and alumni all over the world.  Last year alone 3000 alumni donated over € 1 million as part of the university’s Champion Changing Futures campaign – an increase in funding of 800% compared to two years earlier.
