  • Snapchat has announced a new feature that will allow up to 16 users to chat with each other via its app.

As well as the new group video chat feature, that allows you to either use video or just voice, users of the app can also begin tagging each other in their posts.

The tech giant has said the new video chat feature will be rolled across the global, including the UK and Ireland, this week.

On its blog, Snapchat said: “Today, we’re making Chat even more fun. Now you can video chat with up to 16 of your friends at one time.

“Just tap the video camera icon in a Group Chat to get your friends together! Friends in the Group Chat will receive a notification inviting them to join.

How you express yourself is up to you. You can use Lenses, join in by chatting, or simply send messages that others can read while they talk. Every conversation is unique!”

The company recently faced a backlash from users after a redesign, with an online petition launched by users asking for the updates to be reversed. The petition has gained over 1.25 million signatures and aims to reach to 1.5 million.
