  • Snapchat Spectacles have finally made their way to Europe. The camera equipped sunglasses developed by Snapchat's parent company Snap, are now available for Northern Ireland customers via the company's online store.

'Snapbot' vending machines have also popped up in London, Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, and Venice. It is expected that the Snapbots will move to other cities across Europe over the coming months, so be on the lookout in Belfast.

Spectacles have been available from selected vending machine in the US since November 2016, and went on sale online earlier this year.

The sunglasses with built-in cameras, use a fish-eye lens that captures circular video at an 115-degree angle, allowing for the videos to be viewed in any orientation on a smartphone. Videos or images that are captured with the sunglasses, are saved to your Snapchat memories.

Initial European release is limited to the UK, Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland and Sweden.

Spectacles will cost Northern Ireland customers £130, or €150.
