Legal Engineer & Business Analyst

    Team Overview

     Citi’s Legal Department in Belfast is a team of approximately 170 staff, covering a range of products and services across Citi’s Europe Middle East and Africa region (known as “EMEA”). The Belfast Legal Department provides a range of services, support and advice to many business areas with a particular focus on Citi’s Institutional Client Group; incorporating transaction negotiation, master agreement negotiation, and oversight of compliance and regulatory requirements.

     

    Role Overview

     An opportunity has arisen in the Belfast Markets Legal Department for a prominent business analyst and legal engineer supporting certain businesses within Citi’s Institutional Client Group.

     

    This role will involve working closely with Citi’s legal subject matter experts and ICG Technology partners to support interaction with Citi legal technology programmes to drive improvements in technology solutions related to documentation processes, analyzing and cutting data, and supporting the reporting, metrics and background data gathering for mass regulatory outreaches.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Meeting & facilitating workshops with stakeholders to assess current processes, understanding business objectives and project requirements, and assisting in the development and implementation of new processes and legal technology

    • Analysing, cleansing and visualising data to identify trends and make decisions

    • Formally documenting functions and processes using Microsoft tools (including Visio), along with proficient Microsoft excel skills

    • Development of legal technological solutions for contract generation in both a BAU and project space, development of life cycle management tools, and writing SQLs

    • Supporting user acceptance testing (UAT & DEV) by creating test cases and acceptance criteria and supporting issue/defect management

    • Working on multiple projects and leading workstreams applying standards, methodologies and tools

    • Performing data mining of existing contracts and experience of database management

    • Preparing productivity reports, Vlookups, pivots, building macros etc.

    • Distil legal logic into codified documents to provide structured legal data for stakeholders

     

    Qualifications/Skills

    • A degree in a STEM related discipline or Business or Legal technology e.g., Legal technology, Computing, Computer Forensics or Artificial Intelligence, OR demonstrate that you have relevant work experience in Technology, Legal or Consulting areas

    • Significant experience of implementing technological solutions and transformation projects for clients from project start up to closure

    • A background in legal technology (strongly preferred)

    • A strong belief in the role and impact of emerging technology, strong logical reasoning, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

    • An analytical mindset, with good knowledge of PC functions (e.g., hardware components, networks), software (e.g., various operating systems, software packages), and a keen interest or experience in emerging technologies (e.g., Contract Lifecycle Management, Machine Learning, data extraction technology).

    • Confidence in conveying complex concepts in simple terms.

    • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.

    • Proficient Microsoft excel skills
