Lecturer (Education) in Sociology

    This post is available for 11 months from September 2018 to contribute to the delivery of a high quality undergraduate and postgraduate educational portfolio in Sociology and contribute to the School’s outreach activity and teaching-related administration. 

    The successful candidate will deliver a range of teaching and assessment activities in quantitative research skills at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, to include quantitative methods and Sociology of Inequalities, within an established programme including lectures, tutorials/seminar setting/marking coursework, practicals, and field work to undergraduates and postgraduates.

    The successful candidate must have:
    • A PhD (or be about to obtain) in a relevant area of Social Science.
    • Teaching experience in relation to quantitative methods/skills
    • Teaching experience in using a range of teaching methods.
    • Experience of marking written assignments
    • Ability to design course materials and to plan and organise the delivery and assessment of taught courses in own specialism.
    • Effective interpersonal skills to liaise with students and colleagues and work as part of a team.
    • High level of analytical capability.

    Salary scale: £35,550 - £49,149 per annum (potential to progress to £52,132 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
