Development Group Manager

  • The goal of Information Services is to provide the highest quality information services and resources in support of the education and research activities of the students and staff of the University.

    We have developed an Information Services Strategy (2012-16) which is closely aligned to the University’s Corporate Plan and which sets out the key objectives in the period ahead and the specific targets for the current year. The strategy can be viewed online.

    To manage the Development Group and associated staff, projects, systems and services including maintenance and support in support of University objectives.

    The post holder will be carrying out the lead role in the design, development, deployment and support of Group Systems and Services. They will take primary responsibility for analysing the business requirements and prioritising development to support University needs.

    The successful candidate must have:
    • A primary or higher degree or equivalent qualification in a discipline with significant computing elements.
    OR,
    • At least 6 years’ professional management experience leading teams developing online business solutions in an IT environment in a complex organisation.
    • Experience gained in the last 6 years:
    - At least four years’ experience of managing the planning, development, delivery and support of enterprise wide online business solutions in a complex organisation.
    - At least three years’ experience managing significant enterprise wide online business systems in a complex organisation.
    - Experience, gained in an IT environment, of managing large projects using project management techniques, e.g. Prince2.
    - Significant (at least three years’) experience of managing professional teams within a technical environment.

    Salary scale: £39,992 - £49,149 per annum (potential to progress to £52,132 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
